My dear, I would never want you to feel left out. I will happy criticize your tastes :P
Ween… they were that joke-rock band with the daisies song, right? Of course, I jest. I can’t begin to tell you how much it makes me smile that this band means as much to me as they do to you, and that we share that absolute love of those two men. They will forever be my favourite band of all time, they have been since I was fifteen, and I doubt that will end soon. Ween = life.
Now, Swans, I’m going to have to disappoint you (and all my noise-rock loving friends) here. Swans are one of those bands that I’ve been continuously been meaning to get into, but I’ve just never gotten around to it. I appreciate what I’ve heard though, and I don’t dislike them by any means. Maybe one day I can call myself a fan too.
Ariel Pink, this one requires a confession. I jumped on the bandwagon for Before Today and, much like Swans, I still need to sit down someday and spend time with his earlier work. Before Today, however is… well, ‘wow’ is fairly adequate terminology for that one. Easily my favourite album of 2010 (after it took it’s time to seriously grow on me), there’s so many good songs on there that it blows my mind. All fairly different from each other too, so it almost reminds me of a Ween album at times. I just need to dig into all those earlier records and I’ll be set :)
It’s probably of no surprise to you or anybody reading this that you totally, completely pass. But then, you were always going to :)
